“The harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few…”
It’s been long since we sent updates about our Campus/ Youth work here in Banga, Aklan, Philippines. We are excited to send this information and invite you to be our partners in this eternally-impacting work!
This year 2014 has been productive for the youth development and campus work in Aklan State University. In this part of the world, we have the privilege to work with, to train, and to get involved with their lives and be a part of their training experiences towards their spiritual and holistic formation. These past 6 months have been a sweeping tide of four major activities where Campus Bible Fellowship has poured much prayers, resources and energies into:
1. Fun Day (February 2014)
2. Year-ender Send-off (March)
3. Summer Youth Camp (May)
4. Weekly leadership meetings (for 6 months)
Like you, we believe in the youth, and to invest to them is to invest in the future. They are the future (and even the present) leaders of our country, churches, families and communities. What our nation will be 20-40 years from now starts today. That’s why campus and youth development work is one of our beloved mission works.
Adding to Jose Rizal’s “ang kabataan ang pagasa ng bayan (the youth is the hope of the nation),” we emphasize that in order for the youth to be the hope, it is very important to give them hope (Titus 2:13). They become the hope of our nation as they are transformed by the powerful principles and life-giving Word of God- both the written and the Living One. (Romans 12:1-2, Ecc. 12:1) We invite you to be a fellow-worker on this humble, yet noble work.
If we work upon marble, it will perish; if we work upon brass, time will efface it; if we raise temples, they will crumble into dust; but if we work upon immortal minds, if we imbue them with principles, with the just fear of God and love of our fellowman, we engrace on those tablets something that will brighten to all eternity.” (Daniel Webster)”
Two of our ministries that need prayer and support is the upcoming CBF ASU Kickoff on June 26, and the weekly Leaders Development Gathering every Monday. We appeal to you for the following needs:
1. We are raising money for the rent payment of the University Review Center on June 26. (P2,200)
2. We pray for the provision of food for the attendees. We expect around 80-100 attendance. (Drinks, Rice, Snacks)
3. We also appeal for supporters who would like to sponsor the leaders’ training and development where we empower Aklanon students towards leadership, ministry and discipleship.
(Dinner for 15 students)
Also, one of our facilities with the biggest need is the CBF Youth Center (see photo 1.2). We are very excited to report that in the last ten years of its service, it is has served countless students and youth towards spiritual and holistic development. It is now undergoing a ceiling construction project. Students can now enjoy a cooler atmosphere and better protection from the tropical sun. Although it is a small part, but we praise God for this progress!
The focus of our Special Appeal this year is for funds to complete the interior of the building and facilities to make it more conducive for students. We envision this place to be a better housing where the youth could enjoy studying, hanging-out, indoor games, Bible studies, small groups and discipleship. We pray for the provision of the following: floor development, sofa/ seating furnitures, backyard development and other daily maintenance and staff needs.
We have a very faith-based approach to money believing that “faith without works is dead”. We simply make our needs known and trust that God will work through people’s hearts to meet them. On the other side, not only that we make our needs known, but we also raise funds by working and selling souvenir materials throughout the campus (see photo 1.3).
We really look forward into completing this facility and the continuation of the Youth programs towards the formation of our nation, discipleship of Christ’s followers, development of Christianity and for the expansion of His glory.
We thank the Lord for Banga FBC and for numerous individuals who continually give their precious support and prayers. We look forward for more opportunities of synergy, collaboration, and shared vision with you towards a profitable and God-glorifying end.
Thank you for continuing your prayers for our ministries and for this building project. May the Lord bless you and all your loved ones.
